Making Connections
Balanced Learning Center
Why I Love Them
Balanced Learning Center had a monthly series during the 2024 - 2025 school year that was incredibly beneficial. Each month, Sara and Ali would host a zoom meeting to give families the opportunity to learn information, ask questions, and collaborate as a community. The virtual meetings were just the beginning, and my son got to benefit from their groups for three sessions this year. He has been given the chance to be in a community of children who have his energy and interests and enjoys going every time.
Why I Love Her
Dr. Becky has transformed the way I think about parenting and emotional regulation. Her approach to being “the calm in the storm” helps me remember that co-regulation and connection are more powerful than control. When I help someone who’s overwhelmed with parenting, I draw from her wisdom to remind them they don’t have to be perfect—they just need to show up with presence.
Why I Love Her
Our history together has been serendipitous, and I am so fortunate to have Laurie Love’s expertise to guide me after two moves and during times in my life when I needed help with inflammation and diagnosing health concerns. Her knowledge and understanding of holistic medicine has helped patients live a fuller life and overcome health challenges by “really healing and bringing the body back into balance, by looking deeper into the root cause(s) of a chronic disease.”
Why I Love Her
Jen Riday’s encouragement for moms to “take the guilt-free time they need” really resonated with me. Her work on emotional resilience and creating a life you love helps me support women who feel like they’ve lost themselves in caregiving. When I share her message, I see women start to breathe easier and believe they’re allowed to put themselves on the priority list.
McNeill Institute
A Parent's Guide: Sensory & Behaviors
A Parent's Guide: Home Interventions
A Parent's Guide: School-Based Services
Why I Love Them
The McNeill Institute helped Logan with Occupational Therapy and strategies for school. We were given small exercises for home to help him with going up and down stairs and meeting milestones for his age.
The videos included above are from a three day series about how to help Parents and families with neurodivergent children with sensory & behaviors, home interventions, and school-based services. Within the videos are phenomenal strategies for families to use at home to help their children, including my favorite which was giving pressure to joints in a way that I used with my son and it worked phenomenally.
Why I Love Her
Rita Pierson’s legacy reminds me that relationships are at the heart of everything, especially in families and schools. Her quote, “Every child deserves a champion,” inspires me to be that safe person not just for kids, but for parents too. I often channel her energy when I remind someone that even one caring adult can change everything.
Stephanie Bennett Vogt
Why I Love Her
Years ago, I worked through Stephanie’s “Year to Clear” on the Daily OM. There were small, daily tasks, introspective ideas, uplifting quotes, and motivational moments to inspire readers to clear their spaces and minds. Each time I would check off a day, I would feel a sense of accomplishment, even if it was a small task. After a year or working through the course, I felt clear and more present every day! I have been a long time follower, and now her book is my next step in my clearing process.
Why I Love Them
The Gottmans’ work gave me a deeper understanding of what makes relationships thrive—trust, communication, and those small moments of connection. Their concept of “bids for attention” completely changed how I support couples who feel distant or disconnected. I often share their practical tools like the “Four Horsemen” and repair attempts because they make the invisible parts of relationships visible and fixable.

It all came together!!!
Less than a year ago, I was siting in a coffee shop for hours each day for an entire week. My son was in a Cub Scout camp, and I would drive him up and stay nearby. It may sound a little “helicopter-esk,” but maybe my reason will help in the understanding. *** Please note,…
