My Birthday Movie Groundhog’s Day
How many days, weeks, months, or years was Phil actually in Punxatony? Bill Murray’s character spends countless time going through the motions of February 2nd, Groundhog’s Day, and by the end of the movie he has learned to play piano, speak French, and sculpt ice to an expert level. With those specific skills and perfecting several encounters with people, it is estimated that Phil may have spent at least a decade if not 40 years replaying February 2nd in Punxatony, Pennsylvania.
Each year my husband and I watch Groundhog Day, because it is my birthday movie! This year has been a reminder that this movie has some powerful takeaways! “In real life” it can take at least several days, weeks, or months to start a routine, get better at it, and to get that routine into a more permanent state! What are some routines you would like to become more permanent?
An additional takeaway from this movie can be helpful to connect to a changing routine! “We can’t always control our circumstances, but we can control how we grow within them.”
